Custom Sony Bluetooth Speaker

Completed Custom SRS-XB33 Speaker build. Oil finish nicely highlighted wood grain and gave all alloy brushed parts nice warm satin glow.

Cutting aluminium

Just finished cutting aluminium panels for the Sony Speaker on a CNC router. As always with alloys it was a bit more exciting and had to be nursed a bit more then the good old wood to make sure it doesn’t weld itself to a cutter or chatter too much. Epoxy resin

Custom control panel for the Sony speaker is shaping nicely with an epoxy resin icon inlay.

CNC

Now all the lumber is roughly milled and ready for further processing. We started cutting first parts for the Custom Sony Speaker on a CNC router. For this project we’ll be using a locally sourced oak as a main species.

CAD/CAM

Finally finished digitising the designs to be able to cut out some of the parts on the CNC router. With the digital part of the project out the way we can now focus on the manual part of the build.

Off to a great start

Just started yet another project, customising Sony SRS-XB33 Bluetooth Speaker. We’ll take you along on this journey showing you in the upcoming posts the whole build process, materials we’ve used and techniques employed. Let’s get on with it.
